* thanks for this tip, jamie!

embracing the pieces

the pieces, the parts of me {of you}…they all add up.  they’re up and they’re down, they’re sideways and inside out.  and they all count.  they’re all meaningful…they’re all essential.

so collect the pieces, add them up, embrace them…all of them, even the messy ones.  and recognize the beauty.  because  it’s there.  i promise you it is.

***particpating in christy‘s in the picture.  have a look…there’s beauty to see.

this past weekend my in-laws were visiting and we took a little drive into washington, d.c. to soak in some urban beauty.  it’s cherry blossom time!

the morning was grey, as rain was forecasted for the day.  and as pretty as the blossoms can be against a blue sky, they were still gorgeous against the grey one that day.  softer maybe…

the rain held off until we were heading home.  the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.  beauty seen, appreciated, and captured in a few shots. {okay, i took more than a few…}

but what’s a girl to do with a camera in hand and all these blossoms around?  {okay, two cameras…canon and iPhone…these shots are from my canon, but i wanted to share on instagram too!}

so there it is.

whether outside your door or on your kitchen table, i hope there are blossoms in your world these days…

…an interview over at 52 photo projects

recently i was asked if i’d like to share a bit about myself and my photography over at 52 photo projects. well, yes, i’d enjoy that quite a bit…

bella writes her own blog, she told stories, where she shares her lovely photos and written reflections.  she also runs 52 photo projects which is a fabulous community for photographers to share their work and passion for photography.  weekly, bella offers creative prompts and then participants post links to their photos/blog to share their work for that week.  {i’ve shared some of my contributions with you in past weeks} there’s some really beautiful work that surfaces in the group and lots of encouragement and inspiration.

once a week, on mondays, bella interviews a photographer.  and today, my dear friend, she has interviewed me!  i am quite honored to be included in bella’s interview series.  i hope you’ll take a few moments to hop on over to the interview…click on this link!!!

{noticing the moments}

taking some time to reflect upon my week…

::  foggy mornings all week long that lent themselves to quiet beginnings

::  a maple syrup festival with my kids, a hike which included scrambling on boulders, the satisfaction of being in the woods and feeling life

::  playing with old  friends and new friends

::  curry chicken and naan

::  my children sitting on the sofa, completely still…mesmerized by the music of les miserables

::  noting hidden beauty

did you enjoy any special moments in your week?

pops of life

you know, i typed up a post with photos from my weekend…a misty walk in the woods, boulders to climb, hints of new growth all about.  but my heart wasn’t in it.

what i really want to share today is the beauty sitting right on my kitchen table.

the misty shots were, well, misty and mellow.  but they didn’t feel right as i was writing today’s post.  so instead, i’m sharing these pops of color.  perhaps it’s a selfish effort to lift my mood.  not that my mood is down, but a bit on the heavy side…lots to get done in the next few days.  i need this little lift.  i hope it does you some good too.

wishing you a day filled with color and beauty and pops of life…

oh, and happy spring equinox!!!

{noticing the moments}

taking some time to reflect upon my week…

::  even though it’s a bit early, i’m so enjoying the warm weather, the increasing songs of birds, the blooms of life

::  connections

::  appreciating my husband:  he works hard so that i can be home with our two children; he makes time to paint basketball court lines on the driveway (so cool); he fixes things around the house (like the toilet handle that snapped off recently…thank you, e); he always does the legwork for summer vacation; he loves me and is *so* patient with my clutter

::  homeschooling two fabulous kids who stun me some days with what comes out of their mouths and what flows from their hands

::  a full and very content heart…really noting it…really feeling it

hoping you enjoyed special moments in your week.  hoping you noticed them. hoping you felt them.

sending a little love your way…always, m
