this week’s prompt was: a sweet escape
this past summer i turned 40 and, unbeknownst to me, my husband and kids planned a trip to the canadian rockies to celebrate my day. can you believe my then-nine year old son kept that kind of secret for eight months? needless to say, it was a fabulous surprise and an extraordinary trip. we hiked every day, and every day i was in awe of the mountains, the rivers, the light…it was a week of bliss for me. the photo above represents the pure delight i felt in those mountains that week, with my three favorite people. we walked along lake minnewanka one day, at one point stopping to sit on some rocks. feet ended up in the water…mine, not for long as the water was *freezing*. the four of us sitting together, smiling, giggling, soaking up the mountain light…a sweet escape indeed.
