tea is drunk to forget the din of the world. ~t’ien yiheng
most mornings find me with a cup of tea in hand…a little ritual that gently transitions me into the day. and with cooler weather coming on {at least around here} i thought i’d share one of my favorite tea blends with you. it’s a blend i discovered a couple years ago here.
winter tea
6 heaping tablespoons dried peppermint
3 heaping tablespoons fennel seeds
2 heaping tablespoons dried basil
1 heaping tablespoon licorice root
i like about one tablespoon of this tea blend per cup of tea.
using a tea strainer or reusable tea bag, add boiling water and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
then enjoy.
this is my go-to tea during the cold months. you can read about some of its healing properties here. it’s also good as an iced tea in the warmer months. during the holiday season, the kids and i mix up big batches of this tea blend and fill these tea bags to give away as gifts. it’s a great project for us and it’s always happily received.
if you try this, i do hope you’ll enjoy…
sending a little love your way, m
p.s . if you’d like an online supplier of organic herbs, try mountain rose herbs.
Oh, this sounds lovely. Always looking for new blends, I’ll have to give it a try. Thank you. :)
This sounds wonderful. I adore tea and this sounds an interesting brew.
Thanks for sharing this Michelle … sounds soothing! And what a wonderful gift idea.
It sounds delicious! Reminds me that I need to start making my hot cocoa mix. :)
that sounds fantastic! I adore licorice flavor in tea…one of my favs is Aved@’s but it’s so expensive!
Thank you for this Michelle, I will be mixing up a batch today. While my cool weather was here for a day and then the warm weather returned, I know soon chilly mornings will be here and having a warm cup of tea in hand to greet the sun as it rises will be the perfect start for my day. I am a huge fan of Chai tea so I have a feeling your blend will become a fast favorite.
I just enjoyed a cup of your winter tea last night, thankful that you gifted me with some, and thankful now to read your post and have your recipe. Thank you so much for sharing your practice of kindness and warmth with us!
