the quiet

500tree

there’s a lot of bustle these days everywhere i turn…the holiday season is upon us.  and i am way behind on gift preparations but somehow i feel peaceful about it all.  the shorter days suit me, i think.  there are more twinkle lights, more candle lights, more softness.  i feel a definite turning inward and i rather like it.

there is always music amongst the trees in the garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it. – minnie aumonier

i’ve been doing a lot of self-reflecting lately.  this is not new to me, but right now i’m really self-reflecting, actively.  i’m working through this and this.  together, they’ve got my mind rolling and creative juices bubbling.  i’m looking backwards and forwards, sideways, up and down.  considering things gently from all sides.  the gentleness is key, the quietude is key.  i can hear a soft tune in my heart.

where are you in your days?

sending a little love your way, m

  1. i love sinking into the self reflective phase as soon as the hustle and bustle stop…got my pens and new moleskine at the ready ;-)

  2. Lovely photo! I’m working my way through Susannah’s Unravelling 2013 too. I worked my way through Danielle LaPorte’s Fire Starter Sessions last summer. It was amazing and I think some of the key ideas are still sinking in. I got to meet Danielle at her Toronto book launch party – she is just as she appears in her videos. I’m considering the Desire Map too, perhaps as a xmas present to myself.

  3. I have been list making away in preparation of my son coming home tomorrow. I’ve loaded up the ipod touch with knitting podcasts so my drive will be knitterly! I try to get things done so I am not stressed out. Procrastination is my enemy. I also been reflecting and totally enjoying the dark evenings and lights :)

  4. I am taking each day as it comes, not becoming stressed and just trying to enjoy all this time of year has to offer.
Thank you for the word gentleness, it’s a perfect word for how my days are right now and I am glad to hear the same for you. It’s really a nice way to live I think.

  5. Just taking this month one day at a time. I downloaded the Unravelling 2013 & plan to go through it the week between Christmas & New Year’s, when I have time off from work and can have some quiet. Looking forward to it!

  6. Pretty much the same here too! Working the 2013 Unraveling too. Initial thoughts on Danielle LaPorte’s book? I have it on my list to purchase! Nice post and lovely capture!

    1. i listened to the audio version of fire starter sessions over the summer and loved it. loved it so much, in fact, that i bought the hard copy and am now reading it a second time and actually doing the worksheets included. it’s really, really fantastic…i highly recommend it. danielle has also recently launched her desire map. you can read about that here:

for now, i’m committed to finishing FSS, but the desire map looks incredible too!!!

p.s. thanks for kind words :)
