Peace

I was pouring through my journal filled with quotes the other day.  I like to look through these quotes from time to time.  They’ve all meant something to me at some point (that’s why I copied them into this dedicated journal) and I love how different quotes will pop for me on different days.

Whenever I look through my quote journal, some of the quotes are simply nice to re-discover, some feel like gentle reminders, and sometimes, a quote will feel like someone or something is speaking directly to me in that very moment.  As if I was meant (really meant) to re-read those words again, in that instant.

The other day, it was the words of Thich Nhat Hanh:  Peace is every step.

Which is actually the title of one of his books.  I’ve not read this particular book, so I’ve no idea if these four words exist as a sentence within that volume.  But those four words…in my mind, a sentence…popped for me.  Peace is every step.

I felt an exhale.

The steps are light some days, heavy on others.  But the idea of peace being part of those steps?  Peace being those steps?  Exhale.

I can call this peace into every step of my life, every day, every moment. You can do.

This universal truth.  This invitation.  To hold peace, every step of the way.  To be peace.

Which reminds me of another quote, this time by Will Durant:  We are what we repeatedly do.

I’d like to be peace.
Repeatedly.
Every (or nearly every) step of the way.

Sending a little love your way, m

  1. I have read “Peace is Every Step” and he does indeed use it in the book. Thich Nhat Hanh’s books are so soothing and comforting, especially during difficult times.

I’m looking forward to Just Five Things. I’m not sure how I will participate yet, I was thinking of just doing it privately, but it is a class I always look forward to. xx

    1. I’m glad to know that, Grace…kind of guessed he would…but glad to know for sure, thank you! And agreed on his books being soothing and comforting.

I’m so glad you’re joining this round of Just Five Things. As always, you do class however it feels best for you right now. We’re all there in spirit, even if not in the classroom. xo
