:: Dear Thursday ::

Dear Thursday,

Thank you for your rain.  There’s been rain here and there, plenty of clouds.  But I’ve been longing for a good, solid, rainy day.  You were that.  Thank you for beginning with hot tea.  For the banana.  For the yin yoga that followed.  When I walked into my bedroom to practice, the soft light of your rainy morningness nearly took my breath away.  Thank you for the soft, cotton clothes that feel like second skin.  Thank you for time to work on an art project with my daughter.  Thank you for ideas and dreams.  Thank you for the hot shower, for soap that doesn’t irritate my skin.  Thank you for poetry, yours and that of others.  Thank you for kind and generous friends who remind me how much goodness there is in the world.  Thank you for soft light, all day long.  You were gentle for my eyes, equally gentle for my soul.  Thank you for feeling spacious.  You didn’t drag but you didn’t fly either.  Thank you for the homemade pizza for dinner.  Thank you for the evening with my three. How lucky to start and end the day with them.  Thank you for being the day that you were – rainy and quiet and softly lit.  You did my heart good.

What was your Thursday like?  Share in the comments below, or jot it down in your journal or notebook.  Sometimes it’s nice to look back as we begin to move forward.

sending a little love your way, m

  1. Loved this little practice of gratitude. Makes me want to list all the things too… and write a love letter to all the things I miss.
