I’m familiar with this quote; maybe you are too.  A student in my list making class, Just Five Things, shared this quote with a fellow student in our classroom yesterday.  I hadn’t thought of this quote in a while, and it’s staying with me.  Now I’m passing it along to you.

For your journal pages, or maybe just for your heart…

 

Is there a project you’ve been wanting to start, but haven’t?  Is there a job that needs doing, but you haven’t done?

• Make a list of 2-3 things you’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t.
• Then choose one of those things, and make a sub-list of baby steps you can take to get started on that project or task.  Think small, think doable, think actionable.
• Pick one of those baby steps and do it.Take action.  Begin.

 

When you hear the word begin, what other words come to mind?  Jot them down.  Don’t think too hard, just write.  They might not all make sense.  We’re not necessarily looking for synonyms.  We’re looking for you, tucked into this word.  What does this word mean for you?

 

Choose one of the other strong words from this quote: boldness, genius, power, magic. Whichever one pops for you first. How does this word make you feel? Where are you within this word?  Write down anything you think of when you think of this word.
