A quiet journaling series. Read here to learn more about following along from June 19 – August 28.
If you’re not changing, you’re not growing; you’re not being present.
Change is essential.
~ Maggie Rogers ~
Sometimes change is exciting, welcome, invigorating. Sometimes change is uncomfortable, scary, anxiety-inducing. Sometimes it’s a mix of all of that. Whatever change you might be experiencing right now (which might be personal, global, and/or in between), know that change is a natural part of life, AND it doesn’t last forever (look to Nature as your guide). The excitement will settle, the turmoil will dissipate. Stay with it. Be present to all of it.
• What are some current changes you’re experiencing? These could be anything – from a new haircut, to kids growing up, to educating yourself about current human/world/environmental issues (and the changes in thought/behavior/action that follow). What’s new??
• For each change/experience you’ve listed, write three words that come to mind when you think about that change. Try not to overthink this…just jot down the first three words that pop into your head.
• Out of the words you just wrote (your groups of three), circle the words that feel good to you, the words – the feelings – the energies that you’d like to have more of in your life. Write all your circled words in a list of their own. Maybe draw a big circle around them, or box them out…highlight them on your page in some way. Come back to this particular list often; read and re-read these words. Call these words – feelings – energies into your life, into your heart. Be present.
***If all of your change is hard right now, and if the groups of three words that you listed all feel heavy and uncomfortable, that’s okay. These words don’t have to stay with you. They (you) will change. Look at the words you listed and make a list of opposites. Turn those heavy words into something lighter, something uplifting…make yourself a list of words that feel good for you. Then highlight those words on your page with a circle or a box, or however you like. Come back to this new list you crafted for yourself often; read and re-read. Stay with it, be present.
always the love, m
