Some Very Good Things

We had snow.  A good bit of it.  Everywhere I look, snow.  Okay, not everywhere.  The roads are clear, and there’s a patch of bare grass by the birch trees.  But mostly, snow is everywhere.  For me, this is a very good thing.

The kids and I had cinnamon rolls for breakfast yesterday morning.  This is also a very good thing.

And I’ve been working hard to get things ready for another run of Just Five Things.  Yep, you guessed it, another very good thing.  What can I say?  I love this class and the beautiful people who join me in making lists.  It feels good to do this work.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Just Five Things is a class where we make lists about all kinds of things.  Sometimes the lists are light and fun; sometimes they’re challenging and create resistance.  Sometimes they’re playful; other times they’re deep and soulful.  It all depends – on the prompt, on the day, on you.

There are so many ways to take any one word-idea-sentiment.  So many ways to interpret, so many ways to feel, so many ways to express.  The cool thing?  There’s no wrong way to do it.  As long as you do it (i.e., write a list), you’re golden.

I’ve been running this class for 5+ years, and I had no idea what I was starting when I ran this class for the first time.  Is it too bold of me to say it’s good stuff?  Maybe.  But, honestly, for me – for the students who tell me so – it’s a very good thing.

Curious what Just Five Things is like?  Hop over to my brand new space for holding classes.  There, you can read all about J5T + hear what some former students have to say about it.  And if you have thoughts or questions, there’s a little chat bubble that you can click…and have a chat with me.  That just might be another very good thing :)

always the love, m

P.S.  If you know anyone who you think might be interested, it’d be awesome if you could forward this post or point them in my general direction.

P.P.S.  My friend, Barbara, and I have a new quote + photos to share with you for the first Friday of February!  Click here.
