all the time in the world
You think you have all the time in the world, that there’s no hurry. You think there’s time for washing dishes and cleaning under the sink before the plumber arrives. You think there’s time for wiping the countertops and switching out the towels. But then you look out the window and the cosmos are no longer glowing. You reach for the hand and it’s no longer there. The golden hour has passed. You didn’t have to hurry, but you should have been there.
This is one writing practice of mine, these lines. Another is working (playing) with lists. My lists and lines inform all of the writing that I do (inform me). Maybe you’d like to create a writing practice too…
On Monday, a group of creative, curious women and I will begin the next run of Just Five Things. The lists we write will be playful and some of them will be soulful. We’re working with a theme of release this round and the prompts will ask participants to dig deep on some days. I know we’re going to discover and unveil things for ourselves as we write these lists. Like the five lines above, the lists of five that we craft each day are surprisingly rich.
