Michelle GD writer

Hey there, I’m Michelle.

I’m a writer, photographer, and teacher.
I watch for tiny moments.

I like the way tiny moments make up a day, the way they string together as story, and the way each day’s story weaves into a fully-lived Life.

Sometimes I get caught up in the fast pace of today’s world but my creative practices slow me down and bring me center, again and again (and again).

I’m passionate about holding space for others to do the same.

some background

studied English and Studio Arts at Tufts University and School of the Museum of Fine Arts worked as a Comp Artist in a major NYC advertising agency • worked as a Studio Manager for an independent furniture designer in Washington, D.C. homeschooled my two children completed certification for yoga instruction • blended all these experiences into online offerings that guide people in writing, art, and mindfulness (since 2013)

some truths

most days start with tea and notebook • born in the Colorado Rockies, mountains are in my blood • for now, Virginia is home • five minutes outside makes everything better, softer • the kitchen table is my favorite place for conversation •
tell me your story and I'll tuck it into my heart for safe keeping

some things I’ve witnessed students do

shift habits • heal relationships • expand awareness • learn to speak up for themselves • change careers • say no • say yes • bring clarity to their lives • nurture friendships • write their hearts

I know that your life is real like everybody's, it shines out in your writing. But you do something very special and that is you show how very possible it is for any of us amidst the mayhem and chaos to pay attention to the small daily joys. You remind us what is really important and you do this in a really beautiful way.

There is a lot of noise around us and on the internet. Pictures, quotes, so-called influencers. Michelle stands for the tiny, often overseen moments in life. Taking care of those often-overlooked moments and things, she helps others to value them more and more and gives them the place they deserve.
