The Quiet Page
gentle prompts for putting
words and heart onto page
{for discovering Self}
This is an invitation to put words + heart onto page.
In the company of kindreds.
In the quiet container of an hour.
I create the framework
~ and hold space ~
for you to put your thoughts onto the page.
All you need is a pen,
an open heart,
and an hour.
These one(ish)-hour sessions explore meditation and reflective writing as complementary practices for exploring Self.
We begin with lists to ground us in the moment, move into the meditation to ground ourselves further, then turn to the page to unfold our hearts.
The meditation will be roughly ten minutes - sometimes working with breath, sometimes playing with visualization, always engaging with a gentle stillness.
The writing you do in class might become something other - a poem, an essay, a blog post, a painting, a song. Or it might live exactly as is in the pages of your journal; this is good too.
Your reflections - and sharing time with others - might inspire you to take things a little more slowly, or to look at life and Self from new angles.
This hour of writing in community might surprise you. We gather on Zoom, and it's surprisingly cozy.
Each month, we circle around a new theme. We play with lists (because I love lists), I share poetry (because I love poetry), I offer prompts (because prompts offer a way in). For those comfortable engaging in conversation, there are opportunities to do so.
No meditation or writing experience required. All welcome.
Writing is free and loose. Zero rules.
Please note that, due to the intimate nature of these gatherings, there will be no recordings. This is a live writing experience.
Class size is limited to 8 individuals.
next class: Wednesday, February 19, 2025
cost: $25
we meet on Zoom | classes run approximately 75 minutes

“I have always felt embraced by your words (through your monthly newsletter), but being in a meeting with you and the other lovely ladies made me realize what a powerful channel of love you are.”

“Thanks again—the space you create, and then hold, for others is no small gift. Especially now perhaps, but I think always. You’re a kind and gentle soul and it felt like I got to meet an old friend for the first time tonight.”

Meditation and writing are wonderful practices for inquiry, growth, and self-exploration. Getting quiet (and listening to what wants to be said) opens our eyes and heart, and helps us root into ourselves.
When we root into Self, we can then root into Life.
Writing is art. Living is art. (YOU) are art.
Art (writing-living-YOUing) takes practice.
The Quiet Page is an hour of gentle practice.
let’s practice together…

“This hour’s time is an opportunity — wide open, with no-pressure — to reset, think deeply (but not dwell), and write freely. The online gathering of kindred spirits is guided by the wise and kind Michelle and…well it’s just wonderful. Join in! ”

“My experience à la ‘just 5 things’:
1. Your warmth radiated out to the group from the start as you individually welcomed and acknowledged each person – so personally touching.
2. The writing exercises inspired me to write more after the gathering.
3. The meditation was such a grounding exercise and allowed me to be more present in the group.
4. Seeing everyone was such a gift.
5. Your willingness to share your time and space really means a lot especially during this time when so many of us feel disconnected from others due to COVID.”

“It was so wonderful to finally get to see you (though there was nothing surprising about it; you were exactly as I have imagined you!) and I also loved your easy, gentle way of putting no pressure on anyone to speak, yet making it feel easy to do so.”
“The correctness and quality of what you write do not matter;
the act of writing does.”

WHY WRITE WITH ME?
Besides studying English and Studio Arts at Tufts University, I’m also a registered yoga teacher. This training helps me work with you in blending practices like mindfulness + writing + art. It’s a pretty great combination.
My writing has been published in the literary magazine, kerning. I've also published my writing and photography in Bella Grace and Mabel as well as several places online.
Writing my heart is an ongoing life practice for me, and I'd love to share it with you.
